Before I start talking about this game, I need to explain what this game means to Korean gamers and market first.
<The War of Genesis>(<WG>) series has been one of the best and most famous Korean RPG ever. Its developer, Softmax, introduced its first series in December 1995 and released its 6th and last title, <WG3:Part 2>, in December 2000, featuring high quality graphics and sounds, impressive characters, awesome skill effects, various strategics, top voice actors and profound story.
The games had set an unprecedented record of 700,000 sales as a sole game series and had brought a golden age to the developer.
HyungTae Kim, currently AD of <Blade & Soul> of NCsoft, made a name for himself with his unique characters as a character artist of <WG3>.
After 12 years, Softmax finally revealed the development of a MMORPG <WG4: Spiral Genesis>. However the news is just not utterly welcome because Softmax had always said “We do not want to develop <WG4> or remake the series because they are our last resorts.”
YunKyu Choi the director of Softmax said “Blizzard did a good job on melting history and content of <Warcraft> into <World of Warcraft>. I believe <WG> series got some history and world of its own. So we are putting a lot of effort into conveying our own feelings and worlds through keeping the characteristic content and history of the game, evading simple grinding and level-up.”
Softmax has developed RPG <Magna Carta> and <Magna Carta 2>, MMORPG <Talesweaver>, and MOTPS <SD Gundam Capsule Fighters> for last decade.
