Clash of Online Soccer Games

2 most well-known Online Soccer franchises are about to clash – FIFA Online 3 Vs. Winning Eleven Online. NHN made a partnership with Neowiz Games to make Winning Eleven Online better. Neowiz Games will provide a channeling service for Winning Eleven Online and promote the game based on their experience from publishing FIFA Online.
NHN told “Behind of Success of FIFA Online, Neowiz Games were there. We would like to learn their know-how by cooperating with them.” Neowiz Games also need a substitute for FIFA Online because they had to shut down FIFA Online service with the expiration of the publishing contract with EA. NEXON is a publisher for FIFA Online 3.
NHN also plan to improve Winning Eleven Online as well. After 1st CBT, NHN decided to change the game engine to improve graphics and the movement of athletes. The previous engine will be replaced by the same version that used for Winning Eleven 13. The changing process has been done more than 6 months already.
NHN plan to reveal new Winning Eleven Online between May to August this year.

Rockman Online cancelled

Neowiz Games announced on 13th that they agreed with Capcom to cancel developing ‘Rockman Online’ last November and dismissed the team.

Neowiz Games made the contract with Capcom to develop ‘Rockman Online’ in 2010 and revealed playable version at G-Star. However, the rumors have been growing because ▶the official blog has not updated since March, 2012 ▶A developer from the team posted the project is cancelled on his blog.

The representative of Neowiz Games says “Both companies could not find middle ground, even though both discussed hard from its perfection, developing speed and communications. Therefore, both agreed to cancel the project finally on November, 2012.”

Conflict over Crossfire is over

The conflict between Smilegate and Neowiz Games is over. Neowiz Games and Smilgate agreed to extend the contract for Chinese service until July of 2016 on the 7th of December. About the dispute over the trademark and DB, Neowiz admitted those are the properties of Smilegate and withdrew the lawsuit.

Crossfire service for Korea will be operated by Smilegate directly with DB provided by Neowiz Games. In addition, Smilegate has gained entire publishing rights for Crossfire for the rest of the world with the trade of Chinese service to Neowiz Games. Neowiz Games will support Smilegate technically when they publish Crossfire to other countries.

Neowiz is up for a global social platform

Neowiz makes a new leap forward as a global social platform.

The board members agreed with merging between Neowiz Games and Neowiz Internet on the 12th of October. It will be scheduled to confirm at the general meeting of stockholders on the 22nd of November. If it goes as planned, Neowiz I, new corporation, will be established.

Sang-Kyu Yoon, CEO of Neowiz Games, and Ki-Won Lee, CEO of Neowiz Internet will be the joint representative of Neowiz I.

According to a person from Neowiz, this merger is the part of the process that strengthens its global competitiveness. Neowiz will make global social platform by combining Pmang, Sayclub and Bugs. (Its Gaming portal, Social portal, Music portal)

During the 1st quarter financial conference call on the 15th of May, CEO Yoon announced “Pmang will start working on becoming a global social platform from the second half of the year. By strengthening social features as well as constructing a global payment system and membership service. We hope to introduce the completed platform that supports multiple devices by next year.

Smilegate, working directly with Tencent

Smilegate, the developer of Crossfire, joined user meeting in China with Tencent and without Neowiz Games.

It reflects that Smilegate has decided to say farewell to Neowiz and work directly with Tencent. The publishing contract with Neowiz for China will be expired at the summer of the next year. Crossfire set the new CCU record in China with over 400 million and turned over US$893 million in 2011 for China only.

Smilegate and Neowiz Games filed lawsuits against each other. Neowiz Games claimed they have the trademark right and Smilegate filed a lawsuit for reclaiming.

And Neowiz Games filed a lawsuit to prohibit Smilegate to publish the game to third companies without Neowiz Games because Neowiz Games also participated in developing the game. Neowiz claimed that they developed DB technology for the game solely Smilegate requested Neowiz Games to define the DB program in detail.

All injunctions both companies applied have been accepted to the court. We are all waiting for the decision from the court.
