Starcraft eSports on Settlement Track

May 11th, 2011

The conflict derived from <Starcraft> eSports is now on settlement track. Blizzard, MBC Games, OnGameNet, and KeSPA are meeting to solve the conflict peacefully. To that end, the 4th hearing scheduled on May 13 is postponed to next month.

The negotiation would be end as early as May and the lawsuit would be naturally withdrawn if Blizzard shakes hands with MBC Games and OnGameNet over the IP violation.

This settlement is limited to only <Starcraft>. Reportedly, Korean eSports would admit the IP of <Starcraft> and Blizzard would accept most of demands of the industry.

An official said “There has been no winner since the conflict began. The broadcasters had hard time on attracting sponsors for the leagues and Blizzard had negative marketing effect when <Starcraft 2> launched. So I guess they both had some common need on settlement.”
