The hearing of violation of intellectual property(IP) between Blizzard & Gretech and MBC Games, a Korean broadcaster, was held on Dec. 10.
The first hearing has been done with requesting Blizzard the assurance of paying the costs of the lawsuit from MBC Plus Media. MBC Plus Media, therefore, can now plead until Blizzard responses to the request. MBC Plus Media also requested specifying more detail facts of alleged violation of IP to Blizzard, and the court also requested Blizzard to submit any related precedents in the US if available.
OnGameNet will be summoned as a?co-defendant?at the next hearing as MBC Plus Media want it to be a concurrent processing.
It was eye catching that MBC Plus Media answered ‘want it to be judged’ while Blizzard saied ‘yes’ to a question, ‘Is it not such a case that should be mediated instead of being sued?’
“Blizzard sued us first and as it is the first lawsuit over game IP, we want it to be judged to define the extent of game usage,” said MBC Plus Media.
According to the homepage of Seoul court, Blizzard claimed US$ 300,000 against MBC Plus Media. The second hearing will be held on January 28.
